HIPAA Compliance
HIPAA, short for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, is the single most significant Federal legislation in the health care industry since the creation of the Medicare and Medicade programs in 1965.
Enacted in 1996, its purpose was two-fold: to improve the portability and continuity of health insurance coverage, and to provide administrative simplification and strict security requirements for the transmission of electronic health care information.
